Honestly, I’m not sure. I think those things are just the things that fascinate and inspire him and because of this they tend to show up often. Here’s an interesting quote about his fascination with nature and how that played into ATBaB:
“I wanted the record to feel extremely innocent because of my innate fascination with all things that are pure and beautifully innocent. Nature might be the most perfect form of innocence I can think of and that’s ultimately why the album is very “forest/countryside” themed.”
In regards to space, he said this:
”Space has always been inspiring to me and I’ve always liked reading about it because we know so little about it. I like the great unknowns, the unexplored - that stuff has always been fun to think about.”
So to answer your question, I don’t think there’s one concrete reason that he uses that kind of imagery so often in his lyrics. I think it’s just part of who he is that spills out into his writing. (:
Haha, thanks! I had quite a few requests sitting in my inbox for a few months (thank you to those who sent them in- sorry it took so long!) and I finally got around to posting them. I can’t guarantee this blog will be super active, but I will definitely try to stay on top of suggestions from now on! (:
Yup, now it is! That fact was posted before he moved from modern gardening. ;)
Thanks so much! (: Yep, Adam’s the best!
The only thing about that fact is I think I heard somewhere he was never really officially diagnosed. The only instance in which it came up that I’m aware of is one very silly interview, which is a little iffy to me. I just really don’t want to spread anything false, even accidentally.
I hadn’t heard about him saying it at a concert, which one was it?
